 Sunil Chhetri was born on 3 August 1984 in Secunderabad, India. Sunil Chettri’s father K.B. Chhetri was an Officer in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers of the Indian Army and his Mother Sushila Chhetri played football for Nepal’s Women’s National Team, and Sunil’s father played football for the Indian Army Football Team. Sunil Chhetri’s most of time in childhood was spent in Darjeeling. Sunil Chhetri attended the Bahai School for his formal education in Darjeeling, Loyola School in Kolkata for higher studies, and graduated from Asutosh College in Kolkata, West Bengal. Chhetri started playing football at a young age, he participated in various tournaments. Sunil Chhetri Fluently speaks 5 languages, English, Hindi, Nepali, Kannada, and Bengali. Sunil Chhetri started playing tournaments in childhood and started his career with city club Delhi, which was the local club of Delhi. Chhetri joined in the 2001-2002 season, where Chhetri played 2002 Durand Club and played 4 matches and scored a goal. Sunil Chhetri got recognition from Mohun Bagan and called for trails in Kolkata. Chhetri started his Professional journey with Mohun Bagan Club of the National Football League in 2002.
